Master Thesis in Diabetic Retinopathy

We are actively seeking Master students who are interested in pursuing their research thesis in the field of diabetic retinopathy.

The Experimental and Translational Ophthalmology Department of the University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is a leading eye research laboratory in Germany that focuses on the pathogenesis of various ophthalmic diseases. Our department features well-equipped ophthalmic imaging (OCT, FFA) and electrophysiological (ERG) examination systems, as well as a state-of-the-art protein microarray and mass spectrometry system for protein profiling and biomarker identification ( www.eye-research.org ).

Characterization of fundamental mechanisms underlying diabetic retinopathy using animal models, ophthalmic imaging and retina immunostaining.

Student in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or similar fields of natural sciences
Proficient in English
Ability to work independently as well as in a team
Conscientious and keen to learn new techniques

Opportunity to gain valuable insight into animal experimental research in the field of translational medicine.
Prior training, direct and constant supervision, as well as the prospect of working in an interdisciplinary international research environment.
