Internship / Master’s Thesis in the Field of Structural Optimization (m/f/d)

16. April 2024

Themenbeschreibung

Dassault Systèmes is the second largest software manufacturer in Europe and has been a dynamically growing, innovative company since 1981.

Do you have dreams? Do you enjoy challenges? Here at Dassault Systèmes, we empower people with passion to change the world and create the future.

With our software product Tosca Structure, our brand SIMULIA is an expert in simulation-based optimization solutions within the CAE environment. The Tosca development team in Karlsruhe develops optimization technology based on commercial finite element programs and makes this technology available to design engineers as well as optimization experts.

We are looking for an intern (m/f/d) who would like to write a master’s thesis with us following their internship.

Topics that you could work on during your internship with a following master’s thesis include:

  • Investigation on the topic of 3D printing using Tosca technology
  • Shape optimization and mesh smoothing methods
  • CATIA interface for Tosca
  • Tosca and nonlinear Abaqus analyses
  • Mathematical, parallel high-performance optimization algorithms
  • Ideally a completed bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar areas of study
  • First experience with CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) & FEM in theory as well as preferably in practice
  • Understanding and knowledge in mechanics, mathematics, and numerical methods
  • Programming skills in Fortran or C++ are advantageous
  • Fascination for (simulation-based) optimization
  • Very good English language skills in speaking and writing, German language skills are advantageous
  • You enjoy working independently and efficiently as well as in a team
  • Insight and training in some of our CAE industrial solutions such as 3DEXPERIENCE, Tosca Structure, Abaqus, fe-safe, CATIA
  • Participation in the development and implementation of structural optimization algorithms
  • Test implementation of the corresponding routines in Fortran or C++ environment
  • Sensitivity analysis in the area of topology, shape, cross-section, and bead optimization
  • Modeling in the context of the finite element method (FEM)
